I know it’s been a while since I have written anything at all and I feel bad because to be honest there is so much going on and so much to tell that it seems almost too much to catch up on.....
Let’s just say it’s been a challenging year so far with most of the ups and downs one could imagine... but at the end of it all I’m looking forward what the rest of the year will bring what else life wants to throw my way to challenge me and see if it can bring me down - so far I’m still standing and feeling stronger than ever before even after last weekends not so gentle encounter with the road...
Race season is well under way - I have two 70.3 races under my belt under the guidance of my new coach and Team that I could not be more proud to be a part of. Triathlon & Ironman Coach | QT2 Systems
I promise to get around to writing the race reports very soon - before the final stages of IM training for sure - maybe even during this forced down time.
So training has been going really well I could not be happier with the year so far - after Quassy just 2 weeks ago it was time to head into the final training push for IM. Quassy gave me the fire to want to dig deep and make every workout count .. well at least mentally the legs were not having it so much to my disappointment we had to back off of a couple workouts to let the legs catch up but then again I had pushed them to the 3rd fastest overall female run split of the day at Quassy - not too shabby for anyone that knows that course so after being so good to me I was ok with them needing just a little extra time to bounce back. So we pulled back to give the legs time to rest for a good weekend and I was happy that when I headed out on Saturday morning I could tell they were back - it was going to be a great ride - I had mapped out a brand new 95 miles for the day and could not wait to see some new roads. I had run the route by my friend Lisa - she said it look great and that it was some amazing country I would be riding through..
She was so right - is was one breath taking road after another - hard climbs where rewarded by wide open views - the first 2 hour flew by and I was actually starting to get a little sad that my ride was over half way over but still looking forward to what I would see around the next turn or after the next climb.... even 2 flats in the first 2 hours could not get me down.. just thought to myself lets get them out of the way now during a training ride.
This is here my confidence got the better of me and lessons were learned.. I am very comfortable on my bike and a very confident rider - I have no fear on the bike I have hit 50 mph on my bike and this makes me happy inside so when the road turned into a weaving downhill through a residential neighborhood that was so quite the only creators on the road besides me were deer - just peaceful and those signs on the side of the road warning cars to go 25 mph because of the turns were not for me right... well lesson learned they are if you are on roads you do not know slow down you don’t know what the next turn will bring.... it brought me this ... and then some see .... the picture above yes you guessed right that is my left hip. So now I’m a week out from heading up to Lake Placid for the QT2 training camp .... and the words of my wise coach “You are doing everything you possibly can! Now we let time heal these wounds.” So patience something I just do not have... again I’m hoping for life’s fast forward button ... but everything happens for a reason - we will see what time brings in the mean time be safe out there and pay attention to the signs they are for us too....
