Stamford KIC IT

I’m going to make this shot and sweet -

So KIC IT - was the race the I won overall last year - talk about going into a race with expectations - top that off with being 3 weeks out form your first Ironman - and well things were not so pretty.

This was a great mental test race for me - for the first time ever I started in the seeded swim wave it was 6 guys, one other gal and me - just 5 min after the start is when everything went south - what can I say I’m just not a swimmer. Don’t get me wrong I have worked hard on my swim and it has come a long way from the breast stroke I did in my first race but 5 min into the race when I looked up to sight I realized I was all alone.

Darbi Roberts - the other gal - and the one ending up winning the race posted the fasted swim time of the day - yup - including the boys - so I spent the rest of the day chasing something I could not see and running from some thing that I did know how close it was to catching me - I learned a lot of lesson that day.

All in all I had a great time - meet some amazing people - got to race my first race with my good friend Patrik - who has since done wonders for my swim - and still finished the day 3rd overall.

I’ll take it and I might just be back next year to see if I can get my title back.
